Back to Blog

Some patients might think they are coming in for Physical Therapy, but they are actually bring referred to Occupational Therapy. OT is not necessarily about a job, but the focus is to help people return to what they want to do through the therapeutic use of their everyday activities, also known as occupations.

Our OTs specialize in -

  • Helping people recover from surgery, accident or injury including hand/wrist/elbow injuries to get back to doing what they want to do
  • Helping people with lymphedema manage their swelling and return to better function
  • Helping people with vestibular or balance problems safely stay as independent as possible in their home and community

Our OTs create custom treatment programs to improve one's ability to perform daily activities with -

  • Activities with stimulation of tasks, activity, and home/work modifications, adaptive equipment recommendation, and training
  • Exercises to work on motion and strength
  • Manual treatment to improve joint motion, scar mobility, and decrease pain and swelling.

Come along for a journey in future blogs into our world of OT to see how we can help you live life to its fullest. Contact our Shadows Lane or Gonzales office locations to consult with one of our OT staff.
